When you are sick, do this... + Only 5 Seats Left for Winter Wellness Workshop

Hi Reader,

When my kids are sick I want to be able to help them without taking them to a doctor.

Like me, are you unsure that most doctors have your best interests in mind?

I don't want to take prescriptions that have side affects. I don't want to give them to my kids either.

Don't you want more options and resources when those sniffles start?

I'm excited to learn Winter Wellness from Clinical Herbalist, Jim Furey, this Saturday!

I can't wait to have more herbal remedies ready and know how to use them to prevent and treat the illnesses that always seem to strike at the most inconvenient times.

When you come to these two classes on Saturday, you'll be equipped for winter illness too!

I've even given you a bonus recipe so you can start building your winter wellness resources now. Check out the recipe for immunity boosting tea in the P.S. of this email.

When you come to our Deep Winter Health Workshop Day on December 2nd, you will learn an integrative approach to winter wellness from Clinical Herbalist, Jim Furey.

Morning Class: Deep Winter Wellness Lecture

You’ll be empowered with the knowledge of different lifestyle techniques, supplements, and seasonal eating habits found throughout traditional medicine systems in colder weather to live in harmony with the environment.

Afternoon Class: Cold & Flu Season Overview + Winter Medicine Make and Take

Imagine learning the skills to build up your herbal medicine cabinet, make connections with others who value natural wellness and bringing home natural remedies you can use with confidence.

After attending this Winter Wellness Workshop Day, you'll be prepared for winter and return home with the natural "medicines" that will assist your body in the best ways possible.

Maybe you won't have to resort to antibiotics for ear aches and strep throat this winter!

We'll keep farming for you!

Immunity-Boosting Herbal Tea Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 5-8 cloves of garlic, crushed and peeled
  • 1/4 - 1 tsp of grated fresh ginger (adjust to personal preference)
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 lemon
  • Raw honey, to taste

Directions:

  1. Boil Water:
    • Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
  2. Infuse Garlic and Ginger:
    • Once the water is boiling, add the crushed and peeled cloves of garlic and the freshly grated ginger to the pot.
    • Reduce the heat to a simmer and let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes. This allows the flavors and beneficial compounds to infuse into the water.
  3. Squeeze Lemon Juice:
    • While the garlic and ginger are infusing, squeeze the juice from one lemon.
  4. Combine Lemon Juice:
    • After the infusion period, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the pot. Stir well to combine.
  5. Sweeten with Honey:
    • Add raw honey to the tea to sweeten it to your liking. Start with a small amount and adjust according to your taste preferences.
  6. Strain and Serve:
    • Optionally, you can strain the tea to remove the garlic and ginger remnants, or you can leave them in for a stronger flavor.
    • Pour the tea into your favorite mug and enjoy this immunity-boosting herbal tea!

Note: If you are new to the taste of raw ginger, start with a smaller amount and gradually increase it as you become accustomed to the flavor. Adjust the honey and lemon according to your taste preferences. This tea is a wonderful addition to your winter wellness routine, providing both warmth and immune support.

Tessa DeMaster

Growing up on my family's farm in Pennsylvania, I never would have pictured the life I live at Willow Haven farm. As a kid I spent summers in our large family garden we called, “The Truck Patch”. I helped mom every summer, picking beans, weeding, and cutting fruit and vegetables for the hundreds of jars of canned and frozen produce we put up. Now I spends less time out in the field and more time in the kitchen doing the same preserving for my own farm family. Farmer Reuben values my many hours doing much of the behind the scenes marketing, writing emails to cultivate customers and capturing the farm story each week. I'm always learning along the way in my quest to improve the farm experience for each of her current and future farm members in our 500+ member, year-round customized farm box delivery program. Reading our stories will connect you with your food in a way you never experienced before. Someday soon you will want to fit local food into your life and we'll be here to help you.

Reuben talks to you about organic lables

Hi Reader, I didn’t always eat organic. When my husband Reuben decided to start farming, he chose the organic method simply to be different from the other farms around us. At first, that was it. But as we connected with some of the smartest farmers in the world—people who had studied the land, the science, and the history—we began to uncover just how much modern farming has damaged our food… and our health. We learned that conventional farming doesn’t just spray toxins—it strips the soil,...
